Being an Occupational Therapist

Emma’s OT Story

OT Week 2019

Hello my name is Emma, I’m an Occupational Therapist working in South Supported Care.

My Small Change, Big Impact is being able to respond immediately to a patient who was stuck in her chair following carpel tunnel release. She had severe arthritis in her hips and knees and usually used her hands to push herself up. I ordered a stand aid hoist which was delivered the next day and NFS support to enable her to remain at home while she recovered from her surgery. Ten days later she had recovered enough for the hoist to be collected.
