My apprenticeship journey
Before joining the NHS, Graham worked in fast food but was looking for career development and a better working environment with more regular working hours.
Graham completed his NVQ level 2 in Business Admin at NCH&C and went on to become Vaccination Support Worker, playing a key role in the setting up and running the operations of the Covid Vaccination Clinic at Norwich Community Hospital. Starting at the beginning of the covid vaccination journey as bank admin support at the Colman road staff vaccine clinic, Graham was helpful and supportive to clinicians, helping to ensure the clinic was running smoothly.
Graham has remained ever professional despite a constant changing environment and recurrent changes to national policy, adapting to the critical pressures of mass vaccination – something which was new to everyone. He has supported in rostering and ensuring safe staffing, often at short notice, liaising with IT to ensure IT systems are working and that staff have IT/NIVS access at all times.
Graham has dealt professionally with complaints from the general public when things have not gone to plan, supported clinical staff with set up and day to day running of the clinic, and has been an outstanding support for the Clinical Lead in the clinic, always looking for solutions to problems, with no task big or small, whilst ensuring the correct amount of vaccines are available at all times and stored correctly.
In July 2022 Graham was invited to visit 10 Downing Street for a reception celebrating the NHS Anniversary in recognition of his hard work in the vaccine roll out.
