NCH&C hits 30,000 vaccinations
Our incredible vaccination team has administered almost 30,000 COVID-19 vaccines this year.
NCH&C established its vaccination service earlier in 2021 with clinics at Norwich Community Hospital, Dereham Hospital and Kelling Hospital. It then launched a roving vaccination team in April, on board a special bus that has visited specially chosen sites across Norfolk and Waveney to vaccinate people in areas where vaccine uptake was low or where virus transmission rates remained high.
Community venues, places of worship, large food production facilities and schools are just some of the places that have benefitted from convenient, on-site access to vaccinations. The bus even stopped off at the Latitude festival in Suffolk in July to offer festival goers the opportunity to get their first or second doses of the jab.
As well as making access to a vaccine easier and more convenient, clinicians on the bus have been able to answer questions and address any concerns or hesitancy people may have.
Thanks to a sensational response across the health and care system in Norfolk and Waveney a record number of vaccinations given between 14 and 21 December 2021. 99,000 boosters, 2,000 first doses and 4,000 second doses were delivered to patients. At NCH&C’s vaccination clinics in Norwich and Kelling alone, we vaccinated 1,000 people on the weekend of the 17, 18, 19 December 2021.
