STAR of the month – February 2025
Congratulations to Lillie Allen, a Lymphoedema Coordinator in West Place on being selected as NCH&C ‘February STAR of the Month’.

Congratulations to Lillie Allen who is our STAR of the month winner for February. Lillie is a Lymphoedema Coordinator in West Place.
This award recognises the commitment and dedication of staff members who give a service that is over and above what is expected of them in order to make a difference to patients, visitors and/or their colleagues. They embody our values and behaviours and deserve a special thank you in recognition for going above and beyond.
Lillie was chosen for the award after being nominated for a STAR of recognition badge by her colleagues, who said; “Lillie was awarded a STAR of recognition badge for her pro-active contribution and innovative forward thinking in relation to the management of patient caseload. Lillie has come up with many brilliant ideas, including the management of our waiting list by instigating more of a patient-lead approach. She has done this by working alongside her team, managers an IT team to develop a letter to send out to patients on our waiting list which prompts Patient-Initiated Follow-Up (PIFU).
The letter gives the patient an option for both telephone and face-to-face appointments should they need these, and also requests the patients to inform the service if they currently no longer required our care at this time. This is on the understanding that the patients are able to contact us, re-book/self-refer and also that they continue to obtain their compression garments via repeat prescription, including made to measure garments as long as they are fitting well, comfortable and effective for the patient.
This innovative idea that Lillie has brought to the management of our caseload has allowed patients to take control of their condition and promoted PIFU. As a result, Lillie has advised that she has had a very positive response from the patients, both who require appointment and who wish to be discharged for the time being. This has ultimately helped the team to manage their caseload appropriately as well as afford patients responsibility and empowerment in the management of their condition.”
Lillie received a special ‘STAR of the Month’ certificate and voucher from CEO, Matthew Winn.
Each month, CEO, Matthew Winn will select a Star of the Month from our STAR of Recognition winners. This award forms part of NCH&C’s new STAR Programme – our ‘sharing thanks and recognition’ scheme – which rewards outstanding internal achievements.
