We Care Day

We Care Day 14 February 2022

On 14 February 2022 we celebrate We Care Day!

We’re so proud of our 3 staff networks at the trust – Diverse Heritage, Diverse Abilities and LGBTQ+.

We Care Day is a new initiative to help raise awareness of the staff networks, to encourage staff to join them or to simply become an ally. Each staff network is a community that seeks to improve colleagues’ experiences at work. It is proven that staff networks can help to positively impact staff wellbeing.

The ‘We Care’ initiative is a unifying symbol of allyship. NCH&C is a welcoming, safe environment to work in that is free of discrimination no matter a person’s ethnicity and heritage, sexual orientation or gender reassignment, religion or faith, ability or disability, gender, or marital status.

Our Medical Director Venu Harilal, tells us why allyship is important to him –

Staff network Podcast episode

You can listen to a podcast episode with the chairs of the Diverse Heritage and Diverse Abilities networks, Chioma and Diane, who talk through what the networks mean to them. You can search for Take a Moment with NCH&C on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music or via the Intranet page, here, or the website here.

How can I join the networks?

This We Care Day, think about how to show others you care, through small acts of kindness. You could –

  • Be mindful of each other – check in on a colleague via a quick Teams message
  • If you’re working in the office, take someone a cuppa
  • Email your team or send a trust E-card – remind them you care about them

Share your own stories or celebrate your colleagues and teams with the hashtag #wecareday on your social media, and like and share our posts on the trust social media channels.
