I have lived in Kings Lynn for 4 years now and the more I get to know the people and the town the more it feels like home….

Working as a Community Podiatrist at St James in Kings Lynn can be challenging, however there is a sense of belonging at the clinic. We support and encourage each other, especially during this pandemic were everyone has felt alone and vulnerable. Working with so many staff members with cultural differences and diverse heritage, the fact that we can come together and work together to provide a more inclusive environment for our patients is amazing.

Kings Lynn has a young and vibrant town centre which provides cuisines and restaurants from all parts of the world – spice markets & supermarkets that cater for Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic food & supplies, a newly refurbished cinema, regular farmers markets at our Tuesday Market Place, pubs, bars, and different social clubs, which includes the West Norfolk rugby club founded in 1925 that encourages a warm welcoming inclusive community that promotes diversity. My 12-year-old son plays rugby there every Sunday morning.

As Black Asian Minority (B.A.M.E) Chair for Norfolk Community Health and Care trust it is such a privilege to call Kings Lynn my home and provide a voice, and support a network for BAME staff, as well as encourage all staff within the trust to celebrate diversity and inclusion.
