Mulberry Garden opens to benefit patients at Norfolk Community Hospital

Mulberry Garden opens to benefit patients at Norfolk Community Hospital

The garden is on the site of formerly vacant land, which has been transformed into a beautiful outside space for stroke patients to use as part of their rehabilitation.

The funding has been made possible via Norfolk Community Health and Care Trust’s Charitable Fund, with investment from our Estates & Facilities team, generous grant funding from NHS Charities Together, donations from Beech and Alder Ward patients, and fundraising by Beech Ward Housekeeper Emma Britten.  In her spare time, Emma produced a variety of garden ornaments for sale, raising over £800 so far from this initiative.

MN Landscapes in Norwich designed the wonderfully landscaped garden, which is suitable for wheelchair use independently and assisted.

The garden will be maintained by volunteers through the charity and funding by donations to the charity with support from the local community. In time, more elements will be added to benefit patients.

If you can spare a few hours on a regular basis to help us maintain the new garden, please contact volunteering@nchc.nhs.uk
