We are currently hiring Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) across NCH&C!
Healthcare Assistants are a very important role in the care system. Their job is to keep patients comfortable, and to make sure their hospital stay is as stress-free as possible.
Here are some of the day-to-day care activities that an HCA will do at NCH&C…
- Helping patients to wash and dress
- Making and changing beds
- Helping patients to eat and drink
- Taking and recording basic observations
- Turning patients who are confined to bed to prevent pressure ulcers
A Healthcare Assistant role is also a great entry-point into a career in the NHS. Lots of our HCAs go on to complete further training and education to develop their career.
To apply for one of our HCA vacancies, you’ll need to have a GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics. An NVQ Healthcare Qualification or Care Certificate is desirable, but not essential. However, previous care experience is a must.
